Planning and Design of steel warehouse

As an efficient and flexible Steel building warehousing solution, the design of a steel structure warehouse requires comprehensive consideration of load requirements, space utilization and environmental adaptability.

Steel building Structural design points:

need to determine the span and column spacing according to the function of the warehouse, usually using a large span Steel building (8 ~ 12 meters) design to reduce the number of columns to enhance the efficiency of goods storage.

Roof design should take into account the drainage slope (recommended ≥5%) and load distribution to prevent water from accumulating and causing Steel building structural deformation.

Steel building Load Calculation:

Including self-weight, cargo load, wind and snow load and seismic requirements, need to comply with the “Code for the Design of steel warehouse”.

Foundation Construction of Steel building:

Geological survey is required for foundation to ensure that the bearing capacity is up to standard. Pre-embedded anchor bolts after short column reinforcement binding, precision should be controlled within ±2mm to avoid installation deviation.

Steel building Installation:

Factory prefabricated Steel building components (e.g. H-type steel columns, C-type steel beams) are used; professional equipment is required for on-site lifting, and the bolts are tightened after adjusting the verticality and horizontality.

Installation of purlin and tie bar should be synchronized to prevent purlin deformation affecting the fixing of roofing sheet.

Enclosure construction:

Walls and roofs are recommended to use double-layer color steel sandwich panels (rock wool/polyurethane filling), taking into account the needs of thermal insulation and fire prevention.

The gutter should be made of stainless steel, and the bracket should be pre-set to enhance the drainage carrying capacity.

Notes on material selection

Steel selection:

Priority is given to high-strength low alloy steel such as Q345B, taking into account the economy and load-bearing performance.

Anti-corrosion treatment needs to meet the standards, coastal areas are recommended to use galvanized steel or spray epoxy zinc-rich primer.

Insulation board selection:

Fire rating: when storing flammable materials in the warehouse, Class A fireproof rock wool board (e.g. density ≥ 120kg/m³) should be selected.

Thermal insulation performance: polyurethane sandwich panel with thermal conductivity ≤ 0.045W/(m-K) is suitable for temperature-controlled warehouse.

Durability: outer color steel plate thickness ≥0.5mm, galvanized ≥180g/㎡ to avoid rusting

Construction Safety and Quality Management

Safety Code:

Safety belt is required for working at height, and isolation warning is set up in the lifting area.

Welding operations need to be equipped with fire extinguishing equipment, and clean up the surrounding combustible materials.

Quality control:

Welded seams need to be ultrasonic testing, bolt torque values should be in line with design requirements.

Waterproofing project is completed after 24 hours of closed water test.
