Historical Event: Nanchang Uprising (1927)
Beginning of the Armed Revolution: At dawn on 1 August 1927, Zhou Enlai, He Long, Ye Ting, Zhu De, and others led approximately 20,000 Northern Expedition troops in launching an armed uprising in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province. This marked the first shot fired by the Communist Party of China in its armed resistance against the reactionary Kuomintang forces, signifying the beginning of the Communist Party of China's independent leadership of the revolutionary war and the creation of the People's Army.
